More of the Mini Trip

Day of Graduation

Waking up I had 4 text messages.
The most important was the one from Bob.
He was at rehearsal and would let me know when
he was done so I could go back to Sylvania and
pick him up. So Mom and I could shower some
much needed attention on him.

I showered, got dressed and checked mail
real fast when I got the text. Meeting place
arranged, I left the Hotel and headed to Sylvania
to pick him up at a friend's house.

I met his friend's mother and sat for a few
minutes. It was time to head back
to Statesboro.

Meeting up with Mom, we head out to the Mall.
Well..area where there are a few stores..lol
Between Mom & I, we get Bob,
Pants
Shirt
Tie
Boxers
&
Socks

He is set. So we decide to feed our hunger
and go to Ruby Tuesday's
Food was pretty good and I of course went to
town on the salad bar.

Then it was back to the Hotel so Bob could shower and
get dressed. As he got dressed it hit me. My baby has
grown up. He fought against many problems
and things and made it.
He got his High School Diploma.
He was no longer a little boy that played with
his action figure toys.
He was a graduate and heading into the Army

Needless to say it was a VERY happy day for me

Graduation went well. It stopped raining long enough
for the ceremony. And despite some BS drama
stemming from my daughter,
all went well.

We all headed to Chili's for dinner, then I dropped the
kids off and headed back to the Hotel. The next day,
I would be saying bye to Mom, Danielle and Bob.

Last bit coming soon.

More on the Mini Trip

So I made it to Statesboro!
Whoo Hoo!!
First people I got to see was my Mother and
a family friend that had flown down with my Mother.
Got the car unloaded and the first thing to get hooked up?
The Laptop.

Mom was absolutely thrilled of course that we would
have internet access.
All email could be checked without hassle.

All during this of course were the texts & calls
from both offspring.

"Where are you?"
"What are you doing?"
When are you coming to Sylvania?"
"How much longer?"

Jeeezum!!
And they call me impatient lol

Back into the crappy car I go for a 30 minute
drive to old Sylvania.
~the gray one is the one I was given~

Nothing much has changed there except the highway
to Savannah. I first pick up the son at the library,
and choke him in a big hug the second he got into the car.
Then on to pick up the oldest, Krystal.

Finally we find her dwelling and get out of the car for
the first hug in almost 2 and a half years.

Pile into the car again for another trip BACK to
Statesboro to meet up with Mom and Danielle.
We meet at a favorite restaurant, Ryan's.
Food, drink, talk and lots of those awesome rolls
were enjoyed. During which I am sweating so bad
I am needing some cooling off.

Back to the hotel, Krystal and I proceed to change to
go swimming.

Here is the funny part..hehehehe

Bob and I go down to the pool ahead of the others. He
takes a seat and I step into the FREEZING water. But,
I keep going till I can slowly make my way to the side and
just cool off. Down comes Krystal. Running. I grin and wink to
Robert and look at Krys with a VERY innocent look and say.
"It is better if you just jump in!"

Well...she did...HAHAHA...
She came up and shrieked.
I could not stop laughing.
Neither could her brother or my mother.
That will teach her to jump in without some caution...

Enough for now..more to come soon!

The Mini Trip

I am a VERY proud mother.

Over the past few days I have faced flying,
driving LONG hours in a crappy Kia,
sleeping in a Hotel beside my mother and other
mini annoyances.

All to witness the end of an era.
My only son, Robert has graduated High School.

Leaving Thursday morning, Wil took me to meet
the shuttle bus that would take me to
Midway airport. We got there in plenty time so there
was no rushing around for once. The bus showed
up on time and soon enough I was settled in a
comfortable seat and waving to Wil through the
window as the bus headed away.

Arriving at the airport, I hefted my heavy bag
and headed to the AirTran check in counter & got
my boarding pass. Then it was time to head to security.

Removing shoes and laptop, I walked through & my bag
was flagged. Yep! I did remember not to bring
shampoo or conditioner or any other personal hygiene bottle
but forgot the Nyquil bottle. So..they had to test the contents
to be sure it was not some kind of explosive.

That was done quickly with a few quips exchanged
between the Security personnel and myself.

Sneakers donned, Nyquil returned to the bag, I
headed to the LAST gate!! Damn it, why is it EVERY
time I fly...my gate is always the furthest one??

After a short wait, we board the plane.
I HAD ordered a window seat. I got an aisle seat.
So when the cart came passed, I would get my elbow
clocked. Super.
Take off, landing. All went without a hitch.

Atlanta Airport.....

This place is HUGE!!
It even has it's own train system!
Needless to say I was misdirected three times before
I was put on the right track. Budget was located
and a shuttle took me right to their rental offices.
After some talk and such, I discovered I was NOT going
to get the cobalt I was SUPPOSED to get.. but a crappy
PT Cruiser instead.I refused it..so was given an even
crappier Kia.
No power windows..No power mirrors
and worse
NO CRUISE CONTROL!!!!
Yes..I was to drive the 3 and a half hours to
Statesboro without the luxury of cruise control.
IT SUCKED!
The only good thing was the CD player lol

Long story short, I made it to Stateboro.
My mother made it to the Hotel before me,
which means she did not know what I had already ordered
and they gave her a MUCH smaller room without
a couch. Which meant sharing a full size bed.

I got to see my son and yes my daughter.
Mom and I got together and got Robert prepped
for his graduation
He has grown up.
Become a man.

I am so very proud.

More to come!

The Friendly Skies..Here I Come!

In less then 48 hours, I will be on my way
to the airport.

Joining the millions of people that filter through
the airport to be loaded into a long,
thin, heavy tube with wings. To travel
at high speeds through the air, probably sitting
uncomfortably beside some old fart
(male or female) with a grip on the arm rests
(that I will be claiming), that could rival any
vice.

I have flown a few times in my still young life.
And the anxiety is still just as strong.

I wonder if I could down a few glasses of
liquid courage before schlepping to the gate.

A little bit of bytching always works...

I guess the little post of bytching worked..

So here is the little story..

One of out regular guests came in a few weeks
ago with a box. Of course the usual small chat
ensued. And I discovered he had bought
his former spouse a birthday gift.

He opened the box and revealed a set of
glasses that I thought were just so great.
I asked him if he had wrapping paper.
He being a man and staying at a motel,
of course did not.

A few days went by and I forgot about the
glasses and such when the Boss Man came in
for his shift, and went into the office and came out
with a box and handed it to me. Telling me
the guest I will just call Nicky, had left it for me.

Turns out, he had given it to Wil, and told Wil to
say it was from him! lol
Wil of course put out the usual teases..joined in
with the Boss Man to torment me about the
receiving of such gift.

Well here it is..

Now, I am not one to go around expecting gifts.
But this was just so touching that this man I
really do not know, took time out to think of
me and brought me these glasses.

Now I just have to figure out
where the heck I am going to put them!
LMAO!

OK Then....

I WAS going to do a post on a
lovely gift I had gotten from one of
our regular guests here at the LoveTel.
BUT

Well..

I asked the Commander 3 WEEKS ago
to take pics of them and send them to me
due to HIM having the desk top and me just
a lap top that does not really do all those fancy
things he does on the desk top.

Soo..

I guess this post just turned out to be
a bytch fest about how I am STLL
waiting for those pics.

Maybe he will get around to it when
he is done throwing it around on the internet....

I Almost Peed my Pants...

Last night, the Commander and I went out
for a late meal at this crappy joint
we frequent in the late hours. Due
to the fact that almost everything is closed
at 1 am lol.

Well we ate our halfway decent meals and left.
On the way home, Wil got the brilliant
idea to stop by one of the Dunkin Donut
places. I was thinking ice cream since the
dognuts at that time in the morning are
not exactly fresh.

Well....

We pull up to the window and of course I wanted to get
something OFF the menu that was there.

Now first of all...why is it the people that work
in this business are not just non Americans..
But have THE WORST accents in the world. So not only
does the horrible connection at the drive up suck..
but then you have this garbled shadow of a human's voice
not hearing you..or you not understanding them???

But wait..there is more...

We discover through our super human hearing and
our excellent deciphering skills the soft serve machine is
down. I forgo the ice cream and Wil places his order.
We drive around to the window..and the man that is there,
ALONE I might add comes to the window and with
not only a VERY thick Pakistan, India, or some sort
accent asks Wil to repeat his order.
When it came time to get the total
this poor man who already had some problems
due to the language difference proceeded to speak with
a consonant cheek flutter. Which of course, had me dying.
I had to hold it in till Wil paid the poor man and we drove
away so I could burst out in hysterical laughter that
made tears spill and legs clench to ensure I did not
pee myself.

Whoo..I am still giggling here over it!

Preparations for a Trip

Well, it is official.
On May 21st, I will be flying, yes..flying
down to Atlanta, GA then driving 2 and a half hours
to the town my son is in for his
High School Graduation.

Not adding in that just 5 days later, he will
be packing up to go to boot camp for the Army.

Originally, Wil and I were supposed to take
half our vacation to go together to see this
momentous occasion. But the Boss Man had
other ideas. So I go alone.

While in GA, I will be visited by my Mother,
and a friend, Daniel. We will be going in
together on the Hotel which will cut costs for all.

The graduation is on the 22nd..and I will be
returning to Chicago on the 23rd to be ready
for a 12 hour shift on the 24th.

I hope I still have it in me for all this traveling lol
